The International English Language Testing System ( IELTS ) is an international standardized test of English Language which is required to be taken by non-native English Language speakers for studying or working in a country where English is the mandatory language for communication.
Most popular countries where IELTS is accepted for academic aspirants are Australia, UK, Canada, Europe, New Zealand and USA. IELTS is accepted by over 3000 U.S institutions, Top ranked UK universities, over 750 organizations in Canada, Most top ranked Australian Universities and all in all it is accepted in more than 11,000 organizations in more than 140 countries.
IELTS exam is jointly supervised by IDP : IELTS AUSTRALIA and CAMBRIDGE ASSESSMENT English.
Along with 140 countries, 11,000 organisation worldwide accept IELTS Certification for various basis such as, Study, Work Permit and additional immigration purposes. It is the only English Language Test which is approved by UK Visas and Immigration for visa applicants, who want to apply in UK either domestically or internationally. As they want to be assured that you won’t have any communication issues while you are studying or staying abroad. You will be required to have good understanding and strong command over English language to complete your IELTS exam.
IELTS exam Is not compulsory in all University admissions. Many Institutions might not even require IELTS score for admission. But if you don’t give an IELTS exam your visa process may suffer, as visa officers may not be convinced over your proficiency of English language without your IELTS score. So it is advised to appear for IELTS exam and have a good score for your abroad study or migration purpose.
Regular Batch ( Monday to Friday )
The age limit of any individual will not be considered a hinderance for people willing to undertake an IELTS Test. Furthermore, No age criteria is allocated by the IELTS Administrators. It can be take by anyone irrespective of age, gender, race, nationality, or religion. IELTS Test is not recommended for those below the age of 16 years. Although, if they want, the can participate for this test.
There is no minimum criteria set for educational eligibility. Anyone who wants to study, work or migrate can give IELTS. But it is advised to always check educational eligibility criteria, which is set by institute or organization where they are intended to apply.
The registration fee for IELTS is 15,500.
If IELTS application is cancelled before less than 5 weeks of the test date, then you will be able to receive refund minus 25% administrative fee.
If IELTS application is cancelled in less than five weeks before the test date, than you will not get any refund.
In case, you are not appearing for test on scheduled date, then it will be counted as a cancellation.
For those who can provide medical certificate within 5 days of the test date than they can receive a refund after deduction of the local administrative cost.
There are mainly two modules in IELTS :
Academic Module
General Training Module
If you are planning to migrate to foreign country for study purpose than Academic Module will be Best option for you.
If you are planning to immigrate and work in abroad than, General Training Module is recommended.
There is no major difference between IELTS & TOEFL. It is up to you as a test taker to decide which one to take, but always remember that IELTS is more preferred in UK, Australia and New Zealand while TOEFL is preferred in universities of CANADA and US.
